An exploration in a cross fertilisation of scientific ideas.
PLACES
Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building.
The client: University of Warwick
The architect: Hawkins\Brown
The expertise: MEP, Sustainability, Fire Engineering, Acoustics, Building Physics, Lighting Design
The challenge: By assessing the EUI of the projects we can compare the performance of different building designs and operational strategies with other buildings in the same sector so that we can improve our knowledge of pathways to net zero carbon. We will also be requiring project engineers to track embodied carbon on our projects and our in-house consultancy practice that will require CIBSE commissioning codes to be followed and results to be presented and reviewed. Lessons from post occupancy evaluation have been shared in internal presentations that help engineers understand priorities for improving building performance.
